If someone is lacking much of a chance at victory or getting through something, it is often said that “He doesn’t have a prayer!” It’s funny to think about the way we talk in America about things, especially spiritual things. People are so idiotic sometimes that they say that “it’s colder than hell out there.” Have you ever heard a simple description of what hell is, fella? To quote Joe Biden, “come on man!” Others may say that “God helps those who help themselves.” Actually, God helps those who are of a contrite spirit, those that are serving the Lord and those that are putting others needs ahead of their own. This “Christian nation” is about as out-of-touch with spiritual truth as any other nation on this planet.
In regards to the first statement, are things so bad that you “don’t have a prayer?” I Peter 5:8 tells us that Satan himself as a roaring lion walketh about, seeking whom he may devour.” Another passage says Satan comes to kill, steal, and destroy. Obviously, he is very good at magnifying our problems with the intent of instilling certain hopelessness in our hearts and minds. You may find yourself saying, “Woe is me, I am the ONLY one that is going through this.” Be assured, brethren, that that which is accomplished in you is accomplished also in your brethren that are in the world. I Corinthians 10:13 tells us that “NO temptation hath taken you but such as is COMMON to man, but GOd is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted ABOVE that ye are able, but will with the temptation also make a way of escape that ye may be able to bear it.” You are not going through anything that isn’t common to mankind. There are others. If you are struggling or are in pain or temptation, pray for yourself, yes! Also, though, pray for OTHERS. Cast all your care upon him, for he careth for you. Praise the Lord that he does.
Your BEST prayer you may have is quoting scripture back to the Lord. There is nothing wrong with saying, “Lord, YOU promised over here in Philippians 4 that MY GOD SHALL SUPPLY ALL YOUR NEED according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus.” Another good prayer is to say, “Lord, I have THIS CERTAIN problem, and you know that I have it, but I know someone else who has it. I CHOOSE TO PRAY FOR THEM.” Don’t ever forget that the LAW of Christ that we are to follow is found in Galatians 6:2. “Bear ye one another’s burdens.” Lift someone else up to the throne of grace. God is rich unto ALL that come unto God BY HIM (Jesus Christ). Don’t ever let the devil tell you that YOU don’t have a prayer. As long as you are breathing, you have a prayer.
Let me close with this: if you have never come to God as a sinner begging for the Lord to have mercy on your soul and told him that you believe that Jesus died on the cross for your sins, was buried, and rose again the third day according to the scriptures, THAT is the prayer you need to send up to the Lord RIGHT NOW. When? I mean, RIGHT NOW, don’t even finish reading this, just stop reading and start praying. Jesus said, “YE MUST BE BORN AGAIN.” Call upon the Lord while you have breath, and THEN, you can start praying for everything else, but if your soul hasn’t been saved, what is the point of praying for anything else? I hope and pray you are saved if your reading this. May the Lord bless you richly.
